While the world of fashion is constantly changing, one thing remains the same; when it comes to inspiration, the world is every designer’s oyster. Many of this season’s must-haves have been influenced by trends and traditional items found in other cultures. Among these include the penchant for covering our heads with turbans or headscarves, which has been inspired by clothing worn predominantly by those of the Sikh and Muslim faiths; the Kimono jacket and robe, whose bright colours and bold patterns have been introduced by the fashions of Japan; the kaftan, which has become a light summer staple of men and women everywhere; and bold and bright prints that, while always a fashion staple, are now being more and more influenced by ancient cultures, such as the Aztecs and African tribes.
